IN MEMORIAM

LOU REED (1942 - 2013) was a longtime, generous supporter of Amnesty International. He was a key member of Amnesty's "A Conspiracy Of Hope" US tour in June 1986. The following year he performed in London at Amnesty's "Secret Policeman's Third Ball". He will be deeply missed by the human rights movement.

FELA KUTI (1938-1997) was a highly-respected Nigerian multi-instrumentalist musician and composer, pioneer of Afrobeat music and human rights activist. He was imprisoned in Nigeria for his non-violent political activism. He was adopted as a prisoner-of-conscience by Amnesty and eventually released. In June 1986 he performed at the grand finale concert of Amnesty's "A Conspiracy Of Hope" US tour at Giants Stadium near New York City.
